6 Tools to Help You Choose a Niche

Are you having a problem choosing a niche? Are you concerned that you will spend a lot of time and money building your business, only to see your efforts fail? It is only reasonable to want to improve your odds of success when building a blog or other type of web business.

You get a great head start on success by choosing the right niche. How do you choose the correct market? You use the niche market detecting tools listed below. You will find excellent free and paid tools for revealing popular nations that you can enter which will increase your odds of success in running an online blog or business.

1 – Amazon

Type a potential niche keyword or phrase into the Amazon search engine. What you will see to the left of your results are subcategories based on that search term. The massive "dog training" market is too big, with too much competition, for you to build a business in.

However, searching for "dog training" on Amazon reveals potential niche market subcategories such as "dog training and behavior aids", "dog training collars", "dog agility equipment", "dog carrier backpacks" and "dog training leashes".

2 – Google Auto-Complete

Anytime you begin typing into the Google search engine, Google tries to complete your sentence or phrase before you are finished. You can use this handy access to Google's virtually limitless marketing data to your advantage. Type just one word of a potential niche market into Google, but don't hit enter or click on the magnifying glass.

You will see that Google has suggested 5 or 10 popular searches based on that single word or phrase you typed. These are searches that have been conducted millions of times, so you know that there is a market out there related to those Google auto-complete listings.

3 – Wordstream

Wordstream is a free keyword tool you can use to find a profitable niche. There are also paid versions which deliver a lot of amazing information. However, the free keyword tool they offer is pretty decent in and of itself. Go to WordStream.com. You will see a search bar titled Keyword Niche Finder. Enter a search term, and click on the button that says "Find Profitable Niches". You only receive 30 free searches, but this information has been proven useful in the past by other bloggers and Internet entrepreneurs for revealing successful niche markets.

4 – Google Related Searches

Have you ever searched for a word or phrase on Google? Silly question, huh? Google is far and away the largest search engine in the world. They process tens of billions of search requests each and every day. One thing you may not have noticed is what is listed at the bottom of any page of Google search results. No matter what you are looking for, Google will suggest other search terms, words and phrases that are related to yours.

Try this.

Type a keyword or phrase into Google and hit enter, or click on the little magnifying glass to get your search started. When your results come up, scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see a line of text that reads "Searches related to google search suggests", followed by several keywords or phrases. These are popular searches related to the word or phrase you entered.

5 – Google Trends

Google Trends may be one of the most underused, and powerful, free niche market selecting tools online. Basically, Google gives you access to their vast database of online information ... and they don't charge you a penny for this access. When you log on to Google.com/Trends, you will see a familiar looking search bar.

Enter any keyword or phrase and you will see the current trend associated with your search term. You can filter for a specific country or worldwide results, various time frames and categories, and search images, news items, YouTube, Google or the entire web. This can quickly tell you if a term is peaking or sinking, and if there's a particular annual pattern that you can exploit for profitability.

6 – Paid Tools – Keyword Snatcher and Longtail Pro

Keyword Snatcher (KeyWordSnatcher.com) and Longtail Pro (LongtailPro.com) are extremely powerful niche market discovering tools. The creators of each of those pieces of software agree that Google's related searches and auto-complete features are great free tools to get started uncovering a profitable niche.

However, they don't reveal enough data, such as search volume, buying behavior and other important metrics. These 2 paid tools offer that data and more. Actually, the creators of Longtail Pro and Keyword Snatcher invented their hallmark products as a way of accentuating all of the relevant information Google has to offer for free. Both Keyword Snatcher and Longtail Pro are used by literally tens of thousands successful bloggers and Internet entrepreneurs to reveal important niche market data.
